Classrooms

Classrooms at Summit are flexible spaces for exploration, working, learning and play. Each classroom is a tight-knit community of mixed-age learners who support each other and collaborate as a team daily. The classroom environments at Summit foster a culture of respect, character development, and inspiration.

PreK and Kindergarten

There is never a dull moment in prek and kindergarten.  Our youngest students learn new things every day as they look for God’s power, purpose and beauty throughout His creation.  Our program uses intentional play to teach core subjects, problem-solving skills, and more. We keep children  engaged and moving. Children are naturally curious, and we strive to fuel that interest in learning by how we approach our curriculum.

Program highlights:

    1. Our youngest students are taught early concepts in literacy, language, math, and science, as well as social-emotional skills so they’re well prepared for Lower School..

    2. We practice inquiry-based learning, so our students are encouraged to actively explore, ask questions and discover answers.

    3. The curriculum is biblically immersed, child-centered, and developmentally appropriate.

    4. Teachers utilize best instructional practices to personalize learning and meet the needs of each student.

Lower School

Lower School is a place to grow in knowledge and in service. This is a time of discovering the world, a time of adventure. The secure and affirming environment of the Lower School frees children to explore their curiosities and budding spiritual interests. Great teachers are great artists and ours have sculpted a Lower School experience that kindles a sense of wonder and delight, that fosters a taste for what is true, beautiful and good. In this early stage of their education, students form the habits of success, make their initial forays into the world of knowledge, develop the critical ability to learn how to learn, and give birth to a moral imagination that enables them to envision a future of infinite possibilities.

Program highlights:

  1. Bible is taught daily with a Christ-centered worldview woven throughout all core content areas, including reading, writing, math, science, and social studies.

  2. Students are challenged to develop meaningful and relevant leadership skills, including communication, collaboration, critical thinking, and creativity — all taught through a Biblical lens.

  3. Students explore their unique strengths, skills and callings through hands-on inquiry based learning.

Upper School

Upper School is a time of becoming. It is during the Upper School years that children solidify their identity and their understanding of reality. Our Upper School teachers craft an environment of acceptance where students feel a sense of belonging, where they develop self-confidence, self-awareness, and the vital disciplines of self-management and self-motivation. Students are provided a strong biblical foundation for the challenges life brings as well as a strong intellectual foundation for training tomorrow’s leaders. Through an emphasis on service, Summit creates global citizens who know, love, and serve their Savior.

Program highlights:

  1. Students are challenged to recognize the value of the learning process and to engage in research, service, and projects to solidify their learning.

  2. Students are taught to move from concrete to abstract thought and critical thinking.

  3. Christian truth is shared in both intentional and spontaneous moments, and students are guided to know not only who God is, but also who He made them to be.
